The British National Ploughing Championships & Country Festival will be celebrating 70 years in 2021 when the event will be h ... eld at Mindrum, Northumberland on 9th and 10th October by kind permission of D Harvey & Son. Main sponsors of the Championships are Firestone Tyres and Continental Tyres. The Championships are returning to Northumberland for only the third time in the events' history and are attracting considerable interest in the area. Alongside the highly skilled competition ploughing, visitors will also be able to see an extensive agricultural trade stand area, demonstrations of some of the latest farm machinery available, shopping stalls, vintage tractors and old machinery displays, country crafts and giant steam ploughing engines. Tractors and trailers will be on hand to transport visitors around the huge site. Two busy days will be packed with competitions for many types of plough and styles of ploughing (reversible and conventional world style, horticultural, vintage and magnificent heavy horses) with around 250 champion ploughmen and women taking part to try and win the title of Supreme Champion and the chance to represent England in the World or European Ploughing Championships. The site, situated close to the Scottish border midway between Wooler and Kelso, covers over 200 acres and has good facilities for competitors and public, with easy access by road and plenty of car parking space.
