Bristol Orienteering Club (BOK.) was formed in 1971 by the amalgamation of two small clubs, Henbury Rutters (Henbury School) ... and Bristol Footpads (British Aerospace & Rolls Royce). The aim of the Club is to promote the sport of orienteering in the Greater Bristol Region (centred on the now defunct County of Avon) and the surrounding area, and to provide teams for inter-club competitions. With a membership of over 300, BOK is one of the largest clubs in the United Kingdom. In 1977 members of BOK and teachers in Avon inaugurated the highly successful Avon Schools Orienteering Association, to provide local competition for schools in the area. In 2019, ASOA was amalgamated into BOK, to provide a full range of opportunities for juniors, both within and outside of school. The Club is administered by an elected committee. They meet regularly to arrange Map Production, Fixture Planning. Training & Development and the Social Programme, as well the general running of the Club. BOK is a member of the South West Orienteering Association (SWOA) within the British Orienteering Federation (BOF): https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk read more
