To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, res ... ponsible, and caring citizens. We serve over 1000 kids a day in ten clubs in two Upstate SC counties covering that 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. time of risk with great opportunities for kids in high poverty elementary schools. We partner with schools and churches to host our Clubs and keep overhead costs low. Our Clubs target high poverty elementary and middle schools to serve those who need us most. Our budget is just over $2.5 million on a cash basis. Half of that comes from local support, half from public grants. All of our Clubs are 21st Century Community Learning Centers designated by the Department of Education. Our membership hovers at 50/50 boys to girls, 60% African-American, 30% Caucasian, and 10% a mix of other races. Our Clubs are focused on achieving outcomes in three priority areas - Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. We have extensive research on our impact in each area. Email greg@bgcusc.org for more information. Each Club day starts with the Club Code and Pledge of Allegiance. You know the Pledge, here's the Code: I believe in God and the right to worship according to my own faith and religion. I believe in America, the American way of life, in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I believe in fair play, honesty, and Sportsmanship. I believe in my Boys & Girls Club Which stands for these things. Thanks for your interest in Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate - We need your support and invite you to make a donation at www.begreatupstate.org read more
