Our projects will deliver thousands of jobs, water security, prime agricultural land, cheaper energy and flow on economic ben ... efits for thousands of Queenslanders in the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Regions in the not too distant future. During construction almost 1200 jobs will be created and more than 650 new jobs once the water scheme is operational. Local projects in North and Central Queensland currently in need of water will become viable with the help of our projects. This project will diversify the mining region economy and at least 30 active and 71 new local projects which are currently in need of water. The Bowen River Utilities projects are nation building projects and plan for the future which will support the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac region communities as they continue to grow. We are in partnership with Bowen Collinsville Enterprise, a group of local business leaders and community advocates who are committed to economic growth in the region for the benefit of all North Queenslanders. In May 2019 the Federal Government announced a $10 million grant for a detailed business case and Environmental Impact Statement, contributing a total of $37 million for the current proposal.
