The Belgian Geotechnical Society (in Dutch: Belgische Groepering voor Grondmechanica en Geotechniek (BGGG), in French: Le Gro ... upement Belge de Mécanique des Sols et de la Géotechnique (GBMS)) is the Belgian member society of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). The Belgian Geotechnical Society is the pre-eminent professional body representing the interests and activities of contractors, consulting engineers, academics, research institutions and government agencies in Belgium that actively participate in geotechnical engineering. In close cooperation with related societies such as the Belgian Society for Engineering Geology and Rocks Mechanics, the Belgian Geotechnical Society engages in the following activities in the field of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering: • Organisation of short courses, colloquia, seminars, conferences and site visits. • Preparation and coordination of the Belgian participation to the activities of the ISSMGE and the European Section, including the various Technical Committees. • Collection and dissemination of existing knowledge among, but also outside of the Society. • Delegation of Belgian specialists to European and International technical committees, including the drafting of ISO, CEN and EUROCODE standards. • Participation of young geotechnical engineers in the “Young Geotechnical Engineers Conferences”. read more
