Grant Beacon Middle School is a thriving Innovation School in Denver that has had significant and sustained success with its ... students since its founding in 2012. To expand our impact and meet the needs of more students in Denver, the Grant Beacon team decided to launch a second school and create an Innovation Management Organization (“IMO”) to facilitate our expansion. IMOs represent a new and disruptive model for opening high-performing, highly autonomous schools in Denver and Beacon Schools is excited to play a leading role in its development. As its first replication effort, Beacon schools launched Kepner Beacon Middle School in 2016. Kepner Beacon opened with one grade with 150 students and has grown to full enrollment of 400 students in its third year, at which point Beacon Schools we collectively serve 900 students. If our students and staff are thriving and the IMO model is effective, we may consider opening additional schools in the future. read more
