In 2003, AwesomeBooks was founded to stop unwanted books being dumped into landfill. Our partners such as charity shops, book ... shops, libraries etc had no outlets for their unsold/unwanted books outside of their physical stores. So with sustainability at its core, the company created a business model to rescue these books and resell them, thereby finding them a new home. Every book saved was one which did not need to be manufactured from scratch. From a few hundred books in a basement, we now stock 2.5m+ books, shipping daily to tens of thousands of customers across globe via our brand, AwesomeBooks.com. The result? We’re a crucial revenue stream from charity partners we purchase from allowing them to continue spending on the good causes they support. We’re a crucial partner to those literacy partners we work with who rely on us for books donations, we’ve donated over 100,000 books to school libraries alone. We’ve saved over 1.1bn gallons of water when compared with having to produce the books we’ve resold from scratch (to name but one way of measuring our benefit…). Having started our journey selling used books, the company has expanded to do “re-commerce” of console games, CD’s, DVD’s, tech gadgets. In addition, we work with all the world’s largest publishers, giving us access to over 20m+ of the latest book, movie and games titles which we can source on a next day basis and deliver to customers around the globe. So whether customers buy used books from us or the latest movie or game releases, it all enters our circular and sustainable business model and becomes a force for good in the global community. read more
