By providing teens with the materials and training necessary to open an associated club at their school, Aware removes the st ... igma against special needs. These teens lead their club in a variety of activities: holding info sessions about what a special need is, organizing activities with the students with special needs (such as going to sporting events together), and generally making the special education students feel more included in school activities. The organization also arranges for Aware activists and their clubs to administer workshops at elementary schools to stop the stigma against special needs from forming. In one year Aware has impacted the lives of 250 students across five schools all around Washington state. read more
