AIMS represents more than 60 per cent of the commercial marine surveyors in Australia and has members in most ports around Australia as well as all Australian States and Territories. AIMS also has members in the Asia and South Pacific regions as well as other overseas countries. The Institute is governed by a Council, elected from the members. The Council consists of the Executive Committee and a Representative from each state. The Executive Committee, made up of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer is responsible for the implementation of policy and the daily operation of the Institute.
