This Pre-K through 12th grade division serves a diverse population of over 3900 students and 700 employees. It consists of one comprehensive, four year high school that offers college preparatory, general and special education, as well as career and technical cooperative education courses. It has two middle schools that provide students courses for career pathways and advanced curriculum, along with six elementary schools focused on building the foundational skills needed for success. Additionally, Amherst Education Center provides an alternative program for struggling students, a GED program, and an Alternative to Suspension program to support increased student behavioral success. Academic performance in the areas of reading and math across the division are strong. Over the past two school years, ACPS has achieved fully accredited status through the Virginia Department of Education.
