The AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) program inspires community volunteerism, connecting community members w ... ith their neighbors in need. AmeriCorps VIP places AmeriCorps members called VIP Fellows in leadership positions who lead “behind the scenes” in nonprofits and schools to build sustainable volunteer programs. Fellows do this through: 1) building systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers; 2) recruiting one-time and skills-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the volunteer program. Example Partner Sites include; Sonoma County Family YMCA, Jewish Family of San Diego, OneOC of Orange County, United Way Ventura County, HandsOn Central California and many others. Fellows spend the majority of their service at their Partner Site collaborating with professional staff to build systems of volunteer management. VIP Fellows also spend time in the community, building partnerships and connecting community members with service opportunities. VIP Fellows are a part of a statewide network of 120 Fellows.
