African Lion Gold plc (ALG) has a significant landholding in the north-eastern portion of the Tete Province, within the Chifu ... nde Gold District in north-western Mozambique. ALG is one of the largest single tenement holders in this area. The company is following a phased development program to define more than 1 million oz of gold. Up to now the Chifunde District is an underexplored area of Mozambique. Through ALG’s exploration programs, extensive gold deposits have now been identified. The ALG flagship Chifunde Gold Project is a 200km², early-stage exploration property with confirmed gold mineralisation (up to 63.1g/t). A wide-spread sampling program has been completed yielding grades of between 0.58–63.1g/t Au with a particularly promising average grade of 33.1g/t Au across a 3.5m wide artisanal mining face. Regional Geophysics have been acquired which helped to identify large shear zone corridors within which artisanal hard rock workings are situated. Over 400 artisanal workers mining primary gold deposits from surface to ~120m depth. Artisanal pits are distributed along a structural strike length of ~2500m. Current information suggests that artisanal miners are producing up to 25kg of gold per month from the hard-rock workings. The ALG team is comprised of the Chairman, Cobus van Wyk who is an extensively experienced exploration and mining entrepreneur active in Mozambique since 2004. The CEO, Franco Jordaan is an expert in all aspects of financial accounting, management reporting, systems, corporate governance, treasury, marketing and projects. He has been involved in mining, exploration processing and refining since 2001 and has first-hand experience of doing business in Africa.
