The committee began as a Task Force on Expert Systems (A5T54) in the mid-1980s and evolved into a full committee in 1989 in response to the pressing need of transportation academicians and practitioners. Over the years, the Committee broadened its focus and scope to support and promote the deployment of advanced computing techniques in addressing today’s critical and emerging transportation challenges.
