Desmund Adams Announces Candidacy for State Senate Clive small business owner Desmund Adams has announced his candidacy for t ... he Iowa State Senate. Adams will run in the new, open Senate District 22, which includes Clive, Waukee, Windsor Heights and part West Des Moines. Adams owns and operates ADAMSDOUGLAS, a national executive search and intern search leader. His success in business innovation and investment in the local community earned him the 2009 State of Iowa House of Representative Certificate of Achievement for business and civic leadership. Adams is active in the metro community. He is a member of The Greater Des Moines Committee, The Greater Des Moines Partnership and board member of the Zeta Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation. He formerly served on the board of Creative Visions for thirteen years and is a past President of the Grubb YMCA Board of Managers. Adams also volunteers as a fundraiser for several not-for-profit community initiatives facilitating minority achievement in high school and college. “Encouraging young people to work hard to get a good education so they can get good jobs and fight for their dreams are what guides me both as a father and a community leader. Like any parent, I want my sons to grow up safe and healthy and with every opportunity to succeed.” Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Drake University in 1996 and earned his law degree from Drake Law School in 1999.
